I’m interested in the intimate relationship between the body, religion and the natural world — the entanglement of these three entities.
Through my paintings, I explore the raw and loving wrestling of intestines, God, and the breathing earth.
I'm interested in the belly of things; our deep, dark, communicating insides and in viscera; the soft internal organs within the abdominal and chest cavities.
I like to think about blood and intestines personified — the gut as your closest friend, rolling in the mud with you, holding your face in its hands, whispering, guiding, listening, intimate.
communion with God, slathered on your organs.
I'm interested in murky, dank, fertile earth, nourished and emanating; the richness and mystical nature of dense vegetation.
Through bold color, fluid mark-making, and a physical, intuitive approach to paint, I oscillate between painting the insides of the body and botanics and earth, finding in all something pulsing, organic and crawling — their interconnection felt and inseparable.
I aim to create palpable pieces that feel both raw and tender as they explore the sacredness of the body and its inextricable bond to God and the lush and electric natural world.
